 Job Site Assessment
I will gladly come to your work place and observe jobs and conditions so this information can be portrayed to the physician and therapist to assist in appropriate rehabilitation measures.  I will request a written job description in the beginning of our involvement.  If you do not have a job description available, I may recommended a job analysis by a professionally trained vocational manager.  Knowing the physical aspects of a job helps the rehabilitation team in assuring the appropriate exercises and treatments are applied.  At times it may be necessary to take pictures or film the job, I can provide that as well.

 Information
Claims Adjusters and employers will be updated immediately following appointments and any pertinent activity.   I gather work releases and specific restrictions at each appointment and will fax you the release immediately following the appointment.  I will always be available to you for questions or concerns.  I obtain all medical documents that have been generated on the claimant and assure the claims adjuster and employer are copied on all accounts.

 Returning To Work
Once the claimant is returned to light duty or full duty status, I contact you and the employee often to assess the tolerance of the job by the employee and your opinion of the effort and tolerance.  If you feel the employee's intolerance of the job is not warranted, it may be necessary for the nurse to come to the job site and have the employee show me how he/she is performing the duty.  I may be able to make recommendations on how to do the job better with less irritation to the injured part.

 Monitoring
I closely monitor every aspect of the injured employee's treatment plan.  I will talk with the physical therapist several times a week for progress reports and recommendations, attend every physician's appointment with the injured employee, schedule all diagnostic evaluations and assure the employee remains compliant.  If the employee is noncompliant with any part of the treatment plan, I assure the physician is aware and the noncompliance is documented in my written reports.  I am available to the employee and employer at all times for questions and concerns.  If I feel the employee is not getting appropriate medical care, I will make recommendations to the employee, employer and the claims adjuster for a change.  I try to accommodate the employee's wishes as it is very important they have a say in their medical care but I will assure it is an appropriate medical person and that I am familiar with their work.

 Communication
I work regular business hours but will answer messages on off time if appropriate and necessary.   During the working day, I answer my messages instantaneously if I am in the office.  If I am out at an appointment, I will answer the calls as soon as I can.  I will check messages often while away from the office.  I encourage you to contact me with all your questions and concerns.

 Nursing Duties
I do not provide hands on nursing.  I can provide patient teaching if experienced in that area.   I do not order medications or change the dosage or frequency, this must be done by the physician.  I can attempt to get an immediate appointment with a physician if possible.  I can assess a situation and give a recommendation.  I cannot drive a claimant to any place.  Travel can be arranged but I will not drive the employee to any appointments.  I perform in a consulting role, not in a "hands on" nursing role.
I will coordinate all aspects of treatment, from scheduling physician appointments, physical therapy to arranging and coordinating home health needs, home equipment and transportation needs.

 Goals
My goals are to assist the employee in getting well and returning them to work in the shortest time period needed which in turn saves costs in off work pay, extended rehabilitation services, extended physician visits, extended medication costs and much more.  When a file is referred and all medical information has been reviewed, I can then give you a estimate of healing time for the injury.

Negotiations
I will gladly attempt negotiations on prices with providers of equipment and other services.  If there is a provider that you prefer to use, I will be happy to contact them at your request.
